About
nine years ago, two artists who were working in an experimental
manner decided that an organization was needed in which artists
like themselves could share ideas and techniques - both new and
old, and encourage the development of new talents and skills.
They
felt there was a need for such a group to connect, encourage, inform,
and promote individuals who create works of art by experimentation
and exploration. They searched for a plan to support artists who
were looking for new ways to make statements through their art and
to provide a forum to exhibit their work.
|
So
in 1991 Maxine Masterfield, nationally known artist, teacher
and author, and her friend and fellow artist, Gracie Hegeman,
came together to found the group that became known as The
International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA).
Since
that time, the Society has grown to nearly 300 members and
is still growing. There are innovative artist members in the
United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
