The Artwork of
Elizabeth Concannon

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio State University and for nearly 15 years worked as an interior designer, often personalizing spaces by adding some of my own pieces of art ...such as original paintings, painted furniture pieces, hand-painted pillows, and bench seat cushions.

In the early 90's I began pursing my art exclusively when I came upon some small scraps of metal that I incorporated into a few of my paintings. This "exciting discovery" led to a series of experiments which continue in the development of my work today.

The main body now consists mostly of new and old metals combined with hand-made papers, recycled "found objects", inks, paints, dyes, and other collage materials.

In this new millennium -it is clear our perspective on life has changed dramatically in the last 100 years. Now we are able to view life from space without boundaries -seas and lands pattered with clouds and shadows have altered our visual perspective forever. My challenge and artistic goal is to continue to probe the unknown and strive for a holistic perspective for this new age of artistic awareness.

As an experimental artist, I push the boundaries of materials, colors, shapes and meaning beyond the norm. In BRIDGING TIME AND SPACE, ESSAYS ON LAYERED ART, Marilyn Hughey Phillis describes my work as "spectactular, having the feeling of antiquity , of earth processes at work and the artist's hand bringing it all together in an integrated form of alchemy".
