The Artwork of
Elizabeth Concannon

Until three years ago I worked with oils for nearly 30 years. I began my career doing primarily landscapes and seascapes. Then for almost 10 years I did florals almost exclusively. The last two years has included a fascination with watermedia and a mix of oils and watermedia.

I enjoy color and am often referred to as a colorist as color has always fascinated me and comes easy. I enjoy the subtle blending of soft colors as well as the juxtaposition of one color next to another. People describe my work as having a soft, romantic almost ethereal quality with the oils often having a watercolor quality.

Most of my recent work is semi-abstract and based on landscape forms. Because I love both nature and modern technology, I find it natural to combine small bits of nature with geometric forms to express my awe, my delight and particularly my hope for successful integration of all creation. Each work, then, contains a mystery about time and space and the human condition.
